Newly elected Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2025. Founder of the pelvic floor gynecology specialty in China. Her original "PUMCH-style" pelvic floor reconstruction surgery raised the surgical success rate for uterine prolapse and urinary incontinence — conditions that cause silent suffering in middle-aged and elderly women — from 54% to over 95%, while reducing complications to less than one-quarter of the previous level. She also drove nationwide postpartum pelvic floor rehabilitation programs, reducing the prevalence of female urinary incontinence in China from 31% to 16%. She has single-handedly transformed the quality of life for Chinese women in their later years.
